FAQ

  • How long does shipping take?

Many of the items I offer are either custom and/or made to order. I usually always ship made to order molds within 7 business days (usually much sooner) but, there are times I get very backed up and require a little more time. I’d rather take that time to provide my customers with a quality made product than to rush and cut corners. 3rd Party molds and products (items not made by me) ship within 3 business days, if not sooner. This shipping window does not include wholesale product orders (coming soon). ALL items are shipped from the USA, even items manufactured overseas. POD/Merch items manufactured and shipped from USA based printing providers.

  • Do you ship Internationally?

Yes, I do, but at this time I would need anyone outside of the USA wishing to place orders with me, to please do so through Etsy. I do intend to start offering shipping to International Customers here on my website in the future, but for now, International Orders can only be processed through my Etsy shop. www.Etsy.com/Shop/VirgosAlchemy

  • Do you offer tutorials?

You bet I do! You can find all my latest tutorials on my Youtube Channel! You will want to be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss any of my future uploads. You can subscribe by visiting www.Youtube.com/VirgosAlchemy or by Clicking Here

  • Do you do wholesale?

I currently do not offer wholesale for eyes or molds. I will offer wholesale for some of my other handmade creations such as Cold Process Soaps and Candles in the very near future. Be sure to check back often for sitewide sales, follow me on Instagram @virgosalchemy_art and subscribe to my Youtube channel for special discount codes and limited time offers.

  • Do you do custom eye orders?

Yes, but it depends on the time of year. There are times where I get extremely busy and cannot accept custom orders for eyes. I’m also committed to my other passions and interests, so I do need some time for myself to create other things. When I open for custom eye orders, I will announce this here on my website, and you will also see it as a featured listing post. I will also do pre-order eyes, where I will make a larger batch of a certain style, color, or theme. These listings will have all the information you will need to make your order.

  • Can I Use your Molds in the Oven?

All my signature molds are made from professional grade platinum silicone. Silicone can be heated in an oven at polymer clay curing temperatures (210F - 275F in most cases), but there are a few things to keep in mind. Always keep silicone molds away from direct contact with metal and/or heating elements and never exceed temperatures of 300F. To prolong the life of your mold, I suggest partial baking your casts first, removing them from the mold, and then complete them at regular times/temperatures per the polymer clay manufacture guidelines for your clay’s brand.

  • What makes your eye molds different?

My signature molds first started nearly 12 years ago as a visual concept. At that time, the only molds that were available were larger scale molds, usually only allowing you to make a single pair of eyes, mainly for BJD (Ball Joint Dolls). For years, the OOAK Art Doll community were forced to paint and/or drill beads, use clay cutters, or just make tiny balls of clay, which still had the added task of having to create an area for the iris. The result usually were eyes that took forever to make, looked wonky, off centered, misshaped, and/or just lifeless. My molds were the first that gave doll artists a variety of small scale sizes, fuller round (more white space) eye “bases” with a premade iris area. My molds also allow bulk casting, saving tons of time, and the ability to use digital printed irises, or 3D hand texture/painted iris techniques. There are now way more options “out there” than there used to be, but I feel that my signature molds are some of the best available for small scale work.

  • Can I bake your resin eyes in the oven?

My sole mission was to develop an eye making technique that would hold up to the curing temperatures of polymer clay. Epoxy resin can be way more heat resistant than UV resin products, but both can have their caveats.

The one and ONLY 2 part epoxy resin product that I use for making my eye bases, is Brilliant Resin from Little-Windows.com. This resin has been the only one that has consistently proven to be the most heat resistant 2 part epoxy for baking with polymer clay. *If you would like to try Brilliant Resin, click the link above (will open new window) and be sure to use my code VIRGOS15 and get 15% off all your orders - never expires.

UV Resins are a bit more tricky. The only UV Resin I would consider baking with polymer clay at this time is UV Resin Hard. I know we all want definitive answers when it comes to this, but that is just not always possible. There are many factors that play into things when you introduce ANY resin to heat. You have to be willing to accept the possible risk that comes with heating resin, no matter what type or brand.

You should keep temperatures as low as possible when heating resin, reduce baking times and series baking to a minimum, and exercise caution to avoid burning or scorching resin as it can produce toxic fumes. The resin should be COMPLETELY cured, non sticky/tacky before introducing to any heat.

Always read my product and item descriptions thoroughly, as there are some eyes that are created using elements which are not heat compatible at all, and should not be attempted to bake.

If you need eyes that are more heat resistant, always reach out to me first to ensure the eyes you are purchasing will be more conducive to accepting heat application.

When choosing to bake eyes, you must agree to do so at your own discretion and risk. I’m currently in the process of developing my own formula, and details of this will be available soon.

  • Is eye making safe?

I get this question a lot, and the answer is yes, but only if you use common sense, are responsible, and practice personal safety. Depending on the resin you use, you may need a respirator. Some products, although claiming to be non toxic, can still produce fumes or unpleasant strong odor. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, mouth, ect by using gloves and practice cross contamination avoidance. Always wear a proper protective dust mask when sanding, drilling, or buffing resin or clay. Never use an open flame near resin, unless you know how to properly do this for removing bubbles This is NO JOKE, and the liability, accountability, risk of injury, loss or damages lies completely and solely upon YOU. At NO TIME do I encourage, condone, or support children working with resins of any kind. Keep ALL supplies away from pets, children, or those who are not fully competent.

  • What's in your Soap & Handmade Products?

I create my soaps using the Cold Process method, which means, I make my soap from scratch using Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) Distilled Water (or other liquids) and a combination of quality oils, butters, and other ingredients.

Soap can be broken down into four major categories:

    🍃100% All Natural
    🌱Vegan
    🐰Cruelty Free
    😇96% Natural

Soap and Body Products can be a combination of these, or just make one or more categories.

    🍃100% All Natural
This means that the product contains ZERO synthetics. It will not be created with the use of synthetic colorants (including Titanium Dioxide), and only 100% Essential Oils. It will also not include any eco-glitters or micas.

    🌱Vegan
This means that no ingredients are used that are derived from animals or animal by-products.

    🐰Cruelty Free
This means no ingredients or final product has been tested on animals. Palm Oil is always RSPO Certified as being Sustainable. Tussah Silk is always Cruelty Free.

    😇 96% All Natural
96% All Natural means that some ingredients, although deemed safe for use by the FDA, but sometimes controversial, have been used. These ingredients are usually Mica, Titanium Dioxide, and/or Fragrance Oils. These additives usually make up no more than 4% of the final product, but can slightly fluctuate between recipes and batches. IFRA guidelines are strictly followed for all fragrances, and at no time are any Phthalates, Parabens, or GMO’s used in any of my Handmade products.

  • What's in your Candles & Tarts?

I currently only use Natural Soy Wax for my Candles and Tarts. I do not use Paraffin, or paraffin containing blends. I use either a combination of both Phthalate Free, Paraben free Fragrance oils and Essential Oils, or, 100% FO or EO. You will always find ingredients listed for my products. I will often use eco-glitter, botanicals, crystals, and even small charms and other embeds in some of my candles. My Tarts or Wax Melts, are also made from an All Natural Soy Wax.

  • Do you Design your Own merch?

Yes! With the help of a few select freelance artists, as well as AI technology, and my own personal original sketch work and digital art. Most of my designs are inspired by my love for collectible dolls, whimsy, and twisted fairytales.
